The Grail War occurs every sixty years, and during this war, mages worldwide summon Heroic Spirits – famous figures from history, literature, and mythology – to do their fighting for them as Servants. It is…basically exactly what it sounds like, although this Grail does not just grant eternal youth: rather, it allows the bearer to make One Perfect Wish, allowing them to make almost anything they desire a reality. I mentioned the “Fate” series on a previous month-long list – my Top 31 Sherlock Holmes Portrayals back in May – but for those who don’t remember, didn’t check that out, or just don’t know about this franchise to begin with, let me give you a brief little summation: this franchise focuses on a repeated event throughout history called The Holy Grail War. Hopefully people won’t be too disappointed. I struggled for a bit with where to place this entry, and sixteen ultimately felt like the best spot. This is one of the most interesting and unique takes on Dracula I’ve ever seen, and I actually feel a bit bad for not placing it higher in the ranks.
